Business Development Professional

 

Location: Flexible and will operate from a Home Based Office located in the US

The position will offer excellent professional growth opportunity and will operate from a home based office (location flexible).  It is a high profile and strategic role supporting the company's business model as a global, integrated supplier of chemistry services including custom synthesis and scale-up of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for pharmaceutical companies. They offer capabilities through all the stages of development and commercial manufacture of an API including contract research and development and manufacturing services from pre-clinical through phase III and commercial launch and manufacture.  They have facilities in the US and Europe and their plants are registered with the FDA and the DEA. 

 

Ideal candidates should have relevant industry business development experience which includes a solid comprehension of the API Chemistry / CMO services business and how it interacts with big Pharma, biotech, emerging Pharma and virtual pharmaceutical companies.  A record of contributing individually and creating and managing business development partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and knowledge of contracts (FTE, preclinical, clinical API and commercial) as well as organizational skills and the ability to think strategically are required. Specific duties include:

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Responsible for a defined sales territory, which is comprised of an assigned number of states, major accounts and active accounts. Responsible for management of all sales activities within assigned sales territory, including but not limited to:

 

  • Achieving budgeted revenue for the assigned territory
  • Obtaining, communicating, identifying opportunities, competitive information, customer needs, trends, influences, including market data on all accounts within the territory
  • Development and implementation of comprehensive sales plan for the territory
  • Initiates frequent customer contact, makes independent sales calls and directs sales negotiations to maximize sales revenue and profitability.
  • Develop and implement lead development plan to expand business in assigned territory. 
  • Assess the competitive activity within assigned territories and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to address this activity.
  • A significant amount of travel (>50%) is required, primarily to meet with clients/customer/prospects/target companies, but also for attendance at trade shows.
  • Responsible for representing the customer’s needs and interests while representing the interests of Company

 

Education and Experience Required:

 

  • B.S. or advanced degree in Chemistry or allied sciences, MBA a plus
  • Five or more years experience in a business development/sales position.
  • Experience in the laboratory or related experience in a company that services the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good understanding of chemical processes and sound manufacturing practices as related to business unit product lines and potential products.
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as lead the team effort required.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently is essential.
  • Ability to plan, organize and oversee multiple, independent RFP’s.
  • Ability to successfully work with multi-cultural teams.
