This position is a key role with our client and will be responsible for directing the EH&S activities for two laboratory and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities located in the Northeast.  Our client offers capabilities through in all stages of the development and commercial manufacture of an API including contract research and development and manufacturing services from pre-clinical through to commercial launch and manufacture.  They have facilities in the US and Europe and their plants are registered with the FDA and the DEA.

 

Position Summary:
Responsible for driving both day-to-day and long term EHS performance as a key member of the management team and work with department managers, leaders and engineers to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations, EHS policies and site environmental permits. Audit and review area processes and activities to ensure EHS requirements are addressed in a timely and through manner. Investigate incidents and drive closure of corrective action plans. Develop, review and update safety policies and provide training and guidance to manufacturing operations regarding health and safety concerns.

General Responsibilities Include:

  • Driving EHS goals
  • Develop policy and strategic direction
  • Serve as business EH&S expert
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and interface with appropriate regulatory agencies
  • Manage waste streams and chemical waste handling systems
  • Perform incident investigations and incident prevention
  • Regulation research, application, interpretation
  • Perform, evaluate, develop EHS training
  • Participate and perform EHS audits

 

Required Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • BS in Science, Engineering, EHS or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate teams, drive change, and interact cross-functionally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably chemical processing or laboratory setting

 

Required Work Experience:

  • Prior operations, environmental health and safety, and project management experience.
  • Five or more years direct EHS experience preferably in a chemical manufacturing operation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements including familiarity with OSHA, EPA, DEC etc.

 

Other Requirements:

·      Candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
