Mechanical Project Engineer

Our client is a highly regarded and premier manufacturer of one-of-a-kind paper, fine stationery and nonwovens.  The Mechanical Project Engineer will join an extremely collaborative and energetic team and will have the opportunity to enhance skills while working on the successful production of an iconic product.

 

This position will serve as Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager and be responsible for mechanical projects from concept to implementation. Project responsibilities include mechanical engineering, design and drafting, planning and estimating, material selection and project installation supervision. Incumbents will provide direction of personnel to accomplish required tasks for the upgrade to existing systems, equipment and facilities, as well as, new system design and equipment installations. This position will also assist Operations and Maintenance Managers by providing maintenance support, solutions to process and mechanical efficiency problems, system and equipment troubleshooting.

 

Skills / Experience / Knowledge

  • 5+ years experience in design engineering and project management in the Pulp and Paper Industry
  • 2+ years experience in project estimating, project scheduling and coordination
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and installation of stock and ancillary piping systems
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and installation of paper mill equipment and related mechanical systems
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD required
  • Ability to work within budget restraints and project timelines
  • Background in paper making processes is required
  • Ability to work within corporate safety policies and OSHA standards
  • Positive interpersonal skills in verbal communication, written documents, and group interactions
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation related to assigned projects
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as required, meeting project objectives, timelines, and support of manufacturing
  • Ability to pass and maintain security clearance

 

Education

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent
